Nomalanga Shozi and Trevor Stuurmann Star in G-Star RAW’s Latest SS19 Campaign

G-Star RAW has launched its latest SS19 brand campaign, which inspires and highlights unique personalities, with the confident message, “It’s you. Own it.” Bold, raw and empowering, the global denim innovator has collaborated with two of South Africa’s stars – actress, TV personality and radio host Nomalanga Shozi and multimedia visual artist Trevor Stuurman – to be the faces of the South Africa campaign.

The campaign speaks to the outspoken, the confident, and the ones who do not just follow pre-established rules. It is about individuality and innovation – two characteristics the brand embodies. Shozi and Stuurman are the perfect multi-talented individuals to capture the campaign messaging. Both are outspoken advocates for individuality.

They are champions for South African culture and heritage. And they stand out, Shozi the face of BET TV at the tender age of 23 and with Stuurman an internationally acclaimed visual artist.

“We’ve worked with Nomalanga and Trevor many times before, so we’re thrilled to be lifting our collaborations to the next level. We’re proud to have these multi-talented personalities represent us as they perfectly embody our campaign message.” – Alastair Davies, General Manager, Southern Hemisphere at G-Star RAW

For 30 years, G-Star has been pushing the boundaries of denim design. Its edge is firmly entrenched through its persistent dedication to innovation. Committed to craftsmanship and premium products, it has shaped the industry through break-through innovations like its ‘3D Denim’.

“We know who we are, and we own it. That’s the essence of why we believe this campaign will resonate with like-minded South Africans”- Alastair

Stuurman, who has collaborated with G-Star before, says,

“It’s been a great pleasure to once again collaborate with the G-Star team. I think affirmation of individual identity is so important. In South Africa, we are all so diverse. It is critical we recognise our own strength and that of others. For me, that’s what this is about.”

His views are echoed by Shozi, who is a long-time fan of the brand:

“I love G-Star’s commitment to innovation. I think fashion has a significant role to play in shaping the future and G-Star is at the forefront of this. South Africa is home to phenomenal talent in terms of creativity and ingenuity. This shines through in this campaign.”

The G-Star RAW S/S ’19 campaign launches April 15.
