DJ Chase, real name, Matibisi Ntshwana born in Limpopo, is a multi-talented South African house DJ, music producer, songwriter and musician.

His song writing journey began in 1999 when he received a guitar as a gift from his mom, his love for music grew over the years leading him to Johannesburg in 2003 enrolling into The National School of The Arts where he furthered his music knowledge, majoring in keyboard/piano for contemporary music.

DJ Chase is definitely not new to the industry, he made his first break in 2006 when Kabelo Mabalane (formally known as Bouga Luv) gave him an opportunity to compose and produce a few songs for former group ‘Black Jack’. 2 out of the 3 songs he produced & composed for Black Jack (alongside the legendary producer DRex), went on to become hit singles, they were titled ‘Amajekeje’ and ‘Good Life’. He continued to work with Kabelo Mabalane on his 5th solo album titled ‘Exodus’. After completing his studies in 2007, he joined Denim as a band member playing Keyboard, and later becoming the Band Director.

In 2008 his passion and love for House Music began after meeting multi-nominated DJ, DJ Ganyani who later became his mentor. DJ Chase has since produced and composed hit singles such as ‘DJ Ganyani ft Big Nuz’s & MLU – Be There’ and ‘DJ Ganyani ft Layla – Talk To Me’ which was nominated for ‘Song of The Year’ at MMA15. He has also worked with the likes of International Award winning Jazz musician, Hugh Masekela, Thembi Seete, Denim, Tshepo Tshola, Khan from The Parlotones, Mobi Dixon and Prince Kaybee, to name a few.

DJ Chase released his debut single in February 2017, titled ‘Africa Ema’ featuring vocalist Mishka, which can be classified as African with a dance sound. It talks about coming together to achieve one common goal and that is peace. ‘Africa Ema’ is a definite hit single which is bound to get people on their feet. He is currently working on his Debut Album as a House DJ which will be released early 2018.

“After 10 years working behind the scenes producing records, grooming artists and performing, I decided I wanted to put my own album together which would be a reflection of where I have been on my journey and also to connect with the people that have loved my music over the years. It’s an exciting feeling and an honour  joining African Star because of the value I have seen them add to the music industry and their unique approach and passion for PR is very encouraging.” – Dj Chase
